100 Years of Manufacturing in the USA
Prestolite Leece-Neville Made in USAPrestolite Electric (Leece-Neville) is celebrating 100 years of manufacturing in the USA. Founded in 1911 as Electric Autolite, the company produced generators to power early day auto lamps. First OE customers were Studebaker, Packard and Indiana Buggy Works.

From the early 1920's through the 1960's the company had such firsts as: Low Maintenance Batteries, Resistor Spark Plugs, Solid State Ignition Systems and a Fully Submersible Ignition. The product range was expanded to include Starting Motors, Regulators, Wire and Cable Products.(...) read entire article here

Letter from the Editor
Made in the USA
Excuse us while we take a minute to feel very proud about something, as we have been able to reach a level that is becoming increasingly rare and difficult here in the US. Prestolite Electric can trace its roots for continuous manufacturing in the United States back over 100 years. While there are several historical dates for the start of this company (1909 and 1911), we have selected the 1911 founding of Electric Autolite as our US manufacturing start.

This achievement leaves us standing alone among our competitors. There are no other suppliers of heavy duty starter motors and alternators with a manufacturing facility left in the US. That's right, none.

Only Prestolite / Leece-Neville is still building this product here in the US. And through all of the business transitions over those years, our belief in the strength, ingenuity, and dedication of the American workforce has never wavered. We want you to know, now more than ever, that 'Made In America' means something very special to us, and that we work hard every day to do our part to keep that proud tradition alive.
