Leece-Neville Announces New 185 Amp 12 Volt Brushless Alternator

FL1096_185A_Brushless.jpgLeece-Neville Heavy Duty Systems Division of Prestolite Electric announced today the release of a new 185 amp 12 volt model brushless alternator. "We are expanding the line of our brushless alternators to take on the needs of today’s heavy duty environments," says Scott Miller, Director of Aftermarket Sales. "New diesel engines are running hotter than ever before. In addition, there are continued increases in the demand for electrical power in just about every application we are seeing. The 185 amp brushless alternator is targeted for the high amperage, high temperature application where long life and dependable service is paramount. This unit will initially be launched approved for applications up to 110°C, but additional improvements during 2007 will allow us to offer units with a rating of 125°C later this year."

The new 185 amp models will leverage the proven solid lead frame technology and high temperature features that have been incorporated into other brushless models since 2002. High temperature avalanche diodes are welded to a solid lead frame in the rectifier instead of being soldered, greatly improving resistance to high temperatures and vibration. High temperature stator wire, high temperature bearings and progressive design improvements to the regulator further enhance the alternators resistance to high temperatures.
